Edinburgh Alexander Training School (EATS) is based at Edinburgh’s seaside, Portobello and is currently the only approved Alexander Technique teacher training course in Scotland.

EATS is registered with, and approved by, the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT). STAT is the original, largest and longest established professional body for Alexander teachers.

We offer a comprehensive professional training course leading to certification to teach the Alexander Technique. Training is centred around the core Alexander Technique skills and understanding but also encompasses all aspects of professional practice needed to be able to ‘hit the ground running’ when you graduate. For example, our curriculum includes considerations for working with people living with challenges such as chronic pain, hypermobility or trauma.

Our graduates are certified by STAT through an independent assessment process. Because EATS fullfills all the criteria of: being accredited by STAT, providing a structured, appropriate curriculum, and qualification via independent assessment, this means that our graduates are eligible to register with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council‘s UK Register of practitioners.

We also offer an immersive training environment for people who want to deepen their Alexander skills, understanding and confidence for their own self-development, and for those who may be considering the full professional training but not yet ready to commit to it. Options include everything from one-off end-of-week sessions to an intensive 12-week Foundation course.

Training at EATS takes place 3 days per week. Many people choose to train on a full-time basis, attending all 3 days but part-time options are also available – get in touch to discuss what would work best for you.

Participants benefit from working in a small group setting, with a student to trainer ratio of around 3 to 1.
